I am made of light; I am made of stars.

Mum gave me the book "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz many years ago. I have read it once before and recently picked it up again as I found myself looking for the same light that I once had. It is truly amazing when you read something so powerful as this book, yet, the amazement and self discovery is amplified when you bring yourself back to read it again. I have long since been on a spiritual journey, learning, reading, and evolving. I find that as I grow older I am somewhat of a life butcher, trimming the fat away, getting rid, and really savoring the good things. I have included a short excerpt from the book that outlines what the four agreements. I encourage the purchase of this book, in part because my copy is so important to me and well used that I refuse to lend it out! The four agreements are great to put up in places that you see them often to remind yourself of a better, more fulfilled & spirited life that you can live.
Enjoy! xo Case

The Four Agreements

Be Impeccable With Your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Don’t Take Anything Personally: Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the

Don’t Make Assumptions: Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Always Do Your Best: Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

1992 Fashion = Love & Passion

Last week I picked up this book from a second hand book store on Queen Street. As a child I often spent time sewing with mum at the kitchen table. She used to make all of our dance costumes for competitions and recitals. As for myself, I'd come up with some interesting fashion designs and sometimes dress up my little sister in my 'unique' styles. The book has a great introduction to designing & drawing and the best part, it is from 1992! Second hand book stores are so full of life and wonder, you can go on an adventure, travel in time or visit countries & royals. I'm looking forward to the winter to bust out the sewing machine and create some vintage classic, 1992 inspired pieces!

No Seaguls - Just Eagles

It really does not matter what you have, what you had, want, or what you own. You are whoever you want to be. How you perceive yourself has the biggest impact on how others perceive you, this is my belief and something I live. It was my dear mum that ingrained in me, "just because you don't have money, doesn't mean you can't compete, you just have to be more creative". Luckily for myself, I've always been rich in that department. The book in this post is one that I really, truly love and admire. It is written by Paul Arden one of the world's top advertising guys who comes from a great career with Saatchi & Saatchi.

This is not merely a 'book', this is a bible for the creative, those driven to succeed who couldn't even ever imagine what it's like to 'think inside the box'. It has taught me tools to succeed in the world, to dream the unimaginable, to break the rules, and make my own path, leaving trails for others to follow. This book is about stretching the mind and thinking about where you want to be in the world. Do you want to be well known? The best in your field? Your country? Best in the world? Or best in the universe?
You decide. I know where I want to be.

cartoon motion

Sometimes I wish I was a cartoon. I would run up walls and jump and fly and all kinds of super things. I saw Wolverine movie last night. Hugh JACKman should be called 'Hugh jacked man'. He's massive. I really like the Bloor Varsity - VIP section. You can order a bevvy & food to your seat.
Did some serious writing when I got home last night. The book gets closer every day. I paid my friend whose laid off to clean my room. What a surprise to come home to, a floor and closet full of clothes. An old book from the 1940's lay on my desk from Mum. I picked up the book and as I opened the fragile cover I read "The Face is Familiar: Selected Verse by Ogden Nash". He died on May 19, 1971 and was one of the worlds best humor poets. He inspires me to write/publish some of my quite funny ones. I like his style very much, I do.

two thousand and shine = simple abundance

"You must first be
who you really are,
then,
do what you need to do,
in order to have what you want."

- Margaret Young
This year, again, I am attempting to read the book Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy by Sarah Ban Breathnach. The reason make another attempt is due to the fact it is written in the style of one page per day starting on January first and I would like to read it as so. The 366 essay's focus around finding simplicity and living a more content and fulfilling way of life. It is a lovely book. So lovely that this very copy came to me because my mum's dear friend gave her a copy two years in a row! Ha!

can i get a book please?

Today is a sunny day. I like that.
Mum sends us clothes here and there and she has great style. I pulled this guy out of the closet today and rushed out the door. One of the boys in the office said would "come by my desk to check out a book". haha. I get it. I like this dress, it has pockets. I had to cut head off here, face was wrinkled up.
I'm loving the new neon units. They are SO VIBRANT. I feel like if I was a pastel, I would be neon, electric yellow or pink or purple...or one of those multicolored swirl ones. Yes, for sure.

save them. save yourself. you wild thing.

One of my favorite books as a kid was Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. I loved this story. I just found out that mum complained at the library one time about how the book was horrible. Max was punished and sent to bed without dinner for bring mischievous. She had never heard such a story in New Zealand! This thought is quite funny, mum took another read of the story and saw it in a different light from then on. The book is regarded as an American classic in children's lit and is only ten lines long. How inspiring!!
My sister got me this great shirt for Chrissy this year.

fond, found, fortune, fashion, focus

I'm wearing a mum outfit today. Her old belt that still smells like New Zealand and a shortened Dashiki that matches my orange vintage boots. Tomorrow is going to warm but today its so windy and cold. I think I'm going to write on my way in more often. I lost my computer and ipod so now I use what I got, my device and thoughts and spend less time on the actual computer. I'm inspired in the morning, except for sporadic days when I am not. I usually wake up with a smile. Damn its cold. This morning I woke up to a message from a friend that said he's in London England and the style there reminds him of me. I think that's the nicest thing ever. I've never been to London but I know about style there. I can't type as fast as thoughts fly, I can barely talk that fast and when I do its funny and I sound like a nut. I missed a call from a magazine editor last night. I wonder what he wants? H has the closing party for his art show tonight and I'm also planning to chat with Poster Boy. I'm going to make some. Cut and paste was one of my most favorite things to do at the kitchen table when I was younger. It still is along with writing. I wrote a poetry book in 1996 called Jeans. It's not on Amazon because its out of print, its time for a new book. We started our publishing company without Internet and did it old the fashion way. We learned a lot. Its seems so easy now. I forgot my sunnies, the vintage ones from France. They would have matched perfect. As I take off my jacket I forget I wore this. I smile thinking of Mum and also what my friend is going to say. He makes fun of my clothes all time but its because I'm unique and he knows I can take it. It's fun. I hope you have a great day.

she's gonna grow up and write a book about you

I had a blog before this one, it was on myspace, it still is. It's called it 'It's not how good you are, it's how good you want to be" after a favorite book by Paul Arden. It's all writing and poetry. I revisited it today, it had been since 2007 that I logged into myspace. I guess you could say I've been kinda busy. I have two accounts casieandjenie and misscasiestewart.

things in my room

When I was last home visiting Mum I came across an old journal of mine from when I was eleven. To read it is simply divine. I am happy to relive my own life through it. My writing style is similar and my attitude is the same. I will post some excerpts from it one of these days!
Also in my room is this lovely photo of Audrey and a quote I admire. It from a book by Genevive Antoine Dariaux called A Guide to Elegance: For Every Woman Who Wants to Be Well and Properly Dressed on All Occasions. It's a great read and contains everything from accessories to zippers in a classic & elegant style. I discovered it reading Elegance by Kathleen Tessaro, also a great chic lit book.

hey universe, i need a new camera!

I've had bad luck with cameras. I've been through a few. However, that was when I used to drink and go partying all the time. A text book alcoholic, I could say, you couldn't say that without pissing me off. It's just not nice. The Toronto Police have a checklist and you could be one too. so don't judge me.
I've been taking so many pictures and I really need a new camera so I can take better ones and put them here and make videos so you can see how funny I really am. I believe in the powers of positive thought and I am asking the universe to send a camera to me.

You know my address uni, we've been friends a long time.

clean up. let it go. breathe. exhale. refresh.live life.

The new year is upon us in a few short hours. I've been puttering around all day tidying up the place, doing laundry, setting dishwasher (t.g.f.dishwasher!) and wiping old ugly thoughts and developing new ideas for 2009. I'm quite looking forward to this year ahead. I have heaps of really cool stuff planned for this blog and a bunch of amazing people helping my dreams come true. I don't lie when I say " Move over Martha, there is a new Stewart in town". My name is Casie Stewart, I am proud of the unique person I am and I want to encourage others to create, share thoughts and ideas and inspire others to be individuals.

One thing I hold close to my heart is knowing that thoughts become things, you are a product of your thoughts. You are who you think you are. If you think you are awesome, adorable and funny, then live that way, be that person and be your true self. After my year in Australia away from friends and family I learned who I am as a person and how to embrace that, foster it, and make something of it. I learned how to be myself. I encourage you to inspire and embrace those around you. This year, give thanks for being able to breath clean air, see the sunrise and sunset, to share a laugh with a trusted friend and ball your eyes out with your BFF. Be thankful for each day.

My wish and challenge for you in 2009
Next time someone asks you 'what's new?" don't say "nothing, same as usual", say "everything is new, today is a new day". Think to yourself, think about yourself, each day you have new thoughts, new experiences and new things to be thankful for.

I wish you all the best for the New Year and I believe that 2009 is the buildup to some magical changes in the world we live in, global consciousness and universal issues that affect us all. I am here for you as a channel to reach others. If you have a bright idea and want to develop it and turn your thought into a real live thing, ask me, tell me and share with me. Giving is the worlds greatest gift and my biggest driver for success. I love this blog and sharing. I have a resolution to gather my writing and be ready to publish my second book by the end of 2009. I hope you will all be there with me.

Love and light,
Casie

all the things i said i said i would do before the sun came out and wanted me to enjoy it

Today, I am reminded of a poem I wrote in Australia. It was 7am, I was walking with my feet in the ocean on Bondi Beach. It was my favorite time of day. Peace, bliss, energy, sunlight ; it was freedom. This untitled poem is my most favorite one I've written, I think. There are so many! I'm in the process of picking my favorites so I can have a new book out later this year. Enjoy!

As the waves crashed on the shore,
the wind washed them away.
And as I walked along the sand,
I felt I could not stray.
For I was walking towards the sun,
and it was a brand new day.

"Internet stalking? Who is really stalking who?

Me sitting here on my computer. You would know by looking online that I have been 'Facebooking' for about the last hour or so. Chatting, writing notes, tagging friends in photos, and checking my events and sh** like that. At work, when I log on in the morning, scripts run, and documents are recorded with times, dates, locations, ISP's, with IBM's all over the place. I recall 1984, the classic by George Orwell. I remember the book vaguely, which I may even recite by memory. I think I read only the 'Coles Notes' and still have the hardcover at Mums' house from the local public library circa 1998.

In a recent discussion, I came to the conclusion that anyone...government, organizations, the Internet, anyone could be stalking me right now. In the world I live in, I am run by the Internet and my computer. I rely on them for knowledge, weather, news, fashion, gossip, history, travel, alerts and everything else that I don't know yet but Google does, and, I'll tell you in a minute. I start to think further about the potential of this awareness of what I am actually doing, all the time.

The boys start talking as I come up with an idea. Imagine the government infused our blood with a specific DNA that is able to be seen and or tracked due to its scientific makeup. What a scary thought.

You could see what we are moving particles of matter."

homoerotique.

On Saturday afternoon I watched a movie. The movie was called Savage Grace. The cinematography was beautiful. The story was filled with sexual encounters. It was a whimsical lifestyle that was beautifully lived out in New York, Paris and Spain. Old money let them live a very free life. They had the time to get into trouble in relationships and explore many different personal interests.

I warn you, it was at times, very homoerotique. Savage Grace is based on the book Savage Grace by Natalie Robins and Steven M.L.Anderson which is based on the relationship of Barbara Daly Baekeland and her son Antony.

Yesterday, I was vintage.

I totally had the raddest day yesterday. I had brekky at Niche with Simon and talked about the Internet. I met Charlie near Bellwoods and passed by Ella's for a latte and Apt. 909 to check out some vintage stuff. I love that shop so very much. I'd tell more about about how great it is and where and such but I wanna keep all the clothes in the shop for myself, really. We strolled around Kensington and went to book shops. I got a few jems for the day including these glasses and a scarf that is all the colours vintage really is. I bought it because Charlie said that when he sees it he is reminded of vintage and that it was classic. Obvi, I agreed.

A Saturday in Kensington

We went into "This Ain't the Rosedale" to check out some books. I got 2 really creative mini ones that fit great in the purse. I love those little ones.

Trying on fancy hats is always one of my favorite things to do, along with trying on stuff and taking my picture in it. I went to Bungalow and as I was leaving but then found this totally rad dress that was black with RED LEATHER! I knew it must be tried on, by me. Obviously.

I went to the Cameron House and the bathroom stall I went into your DJ Scootz in it from 2007. Rad! Charlie and I read books there and listened to some live music. He tried on my glasses and put his book upside down for the pic by accident. I
think it looks intellectual.

I dug for some scarves to find jems. Got hooked up these. Those vintage babies were only a buck a piece. God I love that, I make it look a million bux!

All & all, I haven't had a Saturday afternoon in Kensi like that for a couple weeks and it was lovely.
