what the cool kids are doing these days

Partying! Imagine a sexy downtown loft filled with hot, young, internet innovators and cool kids. Dancing to downtown beats and raising glasses to each other...sounds good doesn't it.
Last night I had the pleasure of attending #GenyTO Meetup #2 at the Centre for Social Innovation. It was awesome. The bar was bubbling over with booze and there was even a movie premiere for Toronto's 175 birthday (video below). This time the crowd was even larger as we joined forces with the SXSW & CanLIT groups. The #Genyto meetup/tweetup brings together some of the most creative and ambitious young people from the Toronto startup, marketing, PR and tech communities. For all the photos check my Flickr photo stream ♥

art & music: the sounds of friendship

Today it is damn ass cold again. I'm wearing the warmest unit on my head, found it in Mum's basement. It's a Turtle Fur headband from the 80's! Love it. I used to wear it skiing when I was a kid. This evening I will be attending two events that are artistic and appealing. Planning on going with my sister and probably going to make a dance moves vid also. If you'd like to join us, message me on Twitter (@casiestewart).

My friend Zoe Bentley, a fabulous Toronto singer/musician has a show at the Cameron House. I wrote about her before here. Tonight's details are on FB.

a very cold march day march

Today is freezing. The weather's not fit for walking outside. The wind is chilling on my skin. The sun is bright. My feelings are warm but my face is not. Spring is on it's way, just not today!! I made a little video this morning as I was experiencing arctic winds & the true North strong and free.

video: cold march day on Vimeo.

Lots of work to get done. I also have some stories to share from the weekend but will get to that later this eve.

neighbourhood watch girl

The sun shining that took place this weekend in the city of Toronto was fantastic. I was filled with fantasies of summer and frolicking in warmth of the sun. I am lucky to be able to see this beautiful sunset from my favorite spot, Balconia (aka. my balcony).
There are now a whole bunch of peeps living in the building next to me. I can see clearly into most of their units as they are very close and live in glass boxes. You can see also...My weekend over all was pretty relaxing. I watched 'The Rocker' and caught a scene with my sister and Teddy Geiger. I also watched The House Bunny and liked it. All cheese but funny.

walking in the rain with a heart on

Last night Mr.Playmobil was in my room. He was looking good in his fancy work shirt and orange pants. He's got style. He was hanging out on the top floor at Bookshelf Bistro in the Receipt's Bar. Nice to see him again. He was alone but I know his friends hang out near there.
Today it's raining. The billboard for the new condo shows a bright scene. It doesn't rain when you live there. They are building a bubble I think. I hoped the rain would stop as I passed it but it did not and it rained on my face. Then I walked through more puddles.

what is your blog about anyways?

People always ask me "what's your blog about?" or"well, whats your topic?". As this happens I say to myself in my own little head "I dunno, whatever I feel like, whatever I like, whatever is me-ist". I learned something cool from Chrissy at a company called Espresso. It is called Wordle. I made this Wordle of my blog's first page to get an idea of what my blog might be really about.

This is the realest and truest thing. This shows you what matters most to me. I started writing my blog because I love writing, I love life and I love to remember the things I do that keep me being awesome. This is what my blog is about.

facebook camp: connect, connect, connect

Last night I went to FB Camp. There were lots of people there. I was with some of my favorites. It was interesting, I wouldn't say I learned alot but I did find value in it.
FB has an interesting yet simple competitive advantage over other social networks; everyone is on Facebook. This gives Facebook power as a marketing tool for smaller networks or businesses that want to leverage the power of FB and use that to expand their business using FB Connect.

fatty tuesday, what's for lunch?

I'm wondering what to have for lunch today. We get catered lunched in the office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so today, it's all about me and whatever I want. I've been trying to avoid eating McDonalds as I have been eating it religiously my whole life. Lucky enough, I'm still mini.

I'm a big pho lover traditionally but when I went home for family day I had a really bad pho at Ben Thahn in Cambridge and I'm just not feeling it. I ordered the wrong one and it had nasty meat parts that I can't describe. That's what you get for not REALLY reading the menu.

Tonight I'm going to Facebook Camp Toronto 5 at Mars. I'm interested to hear how Twitter will be brought up, if at all. Although, I can't imagine it just not coming up. I wonder what I might learn?

This is my date @shawnhawaii. He is the coolest.

might as well call it the slumdog awards

I got my new camera last night from Darius and the Daily Challenge Team. I'm pretty stoked. I took three videos and over 45 photos before 10am this morning. I'm looking forward to sharing all the quirky things in my day that make me smile and contribute to my joy filled lust for life. I'm a very happy girl yet also very real. Here is what I made this morning, before coffee.

what a word, world.

I thought it was a joke when a friend on Twitter said the word of the day on Scrabble.com today, Sunday, is...Seems that Hasbro Entertainment has either 1. a sense of humor or 2. no shame. I think it's funny. I went back just now and seems that they have changed it. Ha ha.

oscar winning moves and style

I'm home watching the Oscars with friends and comp unit. It's pretty fun because the Twitter community is ALSO sitting at home doing the same thing as me. It's actually pretty funny. There were screams when Brangelina were first seen. There's heaps of comments about the outfits. I'm following the comments of Tweeps in Toronto.

I've attached a dance solo. My friend said I look like Waldo's girlfriend and I think that is hot. Where is Waldo anyways?

UPDATE on Award Winning Style:
If you didn't know...I'm so cool.
Lady GAGA is a Waldo girl too!

Lady GaGa Sells Out, Goes Corporate

Sporting her Where's Waldo bifocals, mother of pearl necklace and ladylike Isotoner leather gloves, dance diva Lady GaGa left her hotel in Paris looking like she was ready for the sexy secretarial pool at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

subway dance party 2009: off the trains!!

The Subway Dance Party 2009 was a hit. Jenie & I went. It was fun. There were heaps of peeps. Check out the video for the experience. We went to a Subway Dance Party After Party and it was rocking at 7:30pm. I had a blast. Looking forward to the next Improv Toronto event.

subway poem #0021

Sexy Asian couple
Speaking French from France
Russian soldier beside my seat
Killed over a thousand lost his soul

Young and vulnerable shake it up
Catch the rocket ride the subway
Transient dimensions take it slow

Speaking language beyond boundaries
Translating sound beyond experience

♥ It's Friday and I wish you a good weekend.

sick, mucus, cold, cough, gross

I've been fighting off a cough, cold, runny nose and all that crap all week. Today I feel like I'm getting a little but better, however, I'm totally sick.I've taken Buckley capsules, Benelyn, Echinacea, Halls, and lots of water. I'm listening to the new Whitest Boy Alive album called Rules thanks to my friend @EtotheZ. It's making me feel better. Thank god. I'm always so high energy and warm spirits that being sick really gets me down. Hope to be better for Podcamp and the weekend.

Dear Spring,
Please get here. I'm tired of the Winter.
♥ Love Casie

podcamp toronto 2009

This weekend I will be attending podcamp at Ryerson University. Podcamp is an unconference that is free for all those interested in all things podcasting, blogging and new media. Anyone can attend! For more information visit the Wiki and sign up!

ask yourself what is real and what is not real

I've been doing some research into the Institute for Human Continuity. Have you seen their website? It's very nice. They have done a fantastic job at making this site seem real. I registered for the IHC Lottery so that I too can have a higher chance of survival after the catastrophic events they predict will take place in 2012. I hope you are thinking, "WTF is she talking about?" or "Has she totally lost it?"
After researching I found out that it is a promo for Sony's 2012 movie coming out in November 2009. 2012 is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors. It is so easy to over look things, online you don't know at first glance what is real and what isn't. I make a point in my life to be the realest and seek out the truth. You should too.

he's totally here, now, Obama

Just snagged these images from CBC & National Post Live Blogs. The National Post, CBC and Whitehouse are all covering Obama's visit to Canada in live blog form. If you didn't know already blogging is really cool. Twitter's second highest trending topic today is #obamawa.
In the photo below U.S. President Barack Obama walks with Canadian Governor General Michaelle Jean upon his arrival at the Ottawa International Airport in Ottawa, today.

chantez-moi une chanson

I've been working on my French skills over the last year. Some of my tools are watching French movies, news in French and listening to French Music. I've got occasional podcasts also but I find them to be not nearly as fun. My french is better when written and more understood when read.

My friend Charlie introduced me to my new fav French girl, Camille. This is her 'Money Note'. She uses her voice to make cool sounds and incorporates them into her tracks. C'est fantastique!! My other favorites are Yelle and Carla Bruni.

sharing the randomness - 25 casie facts

This has been floating around Facebook since January. I figured since I've been tagged by a ton of friends it is about time I shared 25 random facts about me.

The rules go as follows: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. Blah, blah, blah...

Here we go:
  1. I was born in Canada to New Zealand parents and have dual citizenship (Canadian/New Zealand).
  2. I danced ballet, tap and jazz as a kid and completed in competitions across Ontario as well as Showstopper in NY & Myrtle Beach, SC. I was 5 with fake lashes and red lipstick!
  3. I wrote a book and became a published Canadian Author at 14. It was titled Jeans: An Anthology of Poetry and Prose. The Toronto Star wrote and article about me titled "Push Over Keats, Teen Muse Steps Ahead".
  4. I went to Uni in Australia and lived at Bondi Beach. It was the best year because I learned the most about myself and WHO I really am.
  5. I hate scary movies. I get queezy and I don't like to put bad images in my head. I'm crazy enough already!
  6. I still have all my Barbies and their vintage outfits. I hope to get them made in my size one day.
  7. I have a Green Belt in Tae Know Do and once knocked out a boy (Note: James Roszell) in grade 8 at school. Mum thought I'd get in trouble but I said "Mum, do you think he's gonna tell anyone?"
  8. I hate the number three. I don't do anything in threes.
  9. I grew up around vintage cars and vintage clothes. My Dad builds hot rods and mum was a photog for Canadian Street Rod Magazine.
  10. I named my sister Jenie because EVERY doll I had before she was born had that name. I love her.
  11. When I was 16 and had braces, I did a commercial for an electric toothbrush that aired in the US.
  12. My Mum is my hero. She is so inspiring to me and has instilled good values and confidence.
  13. I'm a very loving, positive girl. I tell my friends I love them all the time just so they know ♥
  14. I ride an red vintage bike with all summer and it makes me feel free! I love it!

  16. I went swimming with wild dolphins on the coast of the Bay of Islands in New Zealand.
  17. My middle name is Diana after Princess Diana. My mum loved her.
  18. I have more clothes than any friend I've ever had. It's an issue but I wouldn't change it!
  19. I have conversations with myself. I think I'm funny. We're best friends.
  20. I've won a beauty pageant and a bikini contest. Once I was a Sunshine Girl. My hair was long and red and I had huge boobs.
  21. My favorite gift I ever received was a hardcover Thesaurus from my parents in 1996.
  22. I'm addicted to Twitter. I love it. I learn so much and get smarter and smarter each day. Follow me @casiestewart

  24. I have a bad memory. I started my blog to keep more memories and no one read it but ME for at least the first year. Now I write about things that can help make the world a better place, review products people send me and share my thoughts on life. It has really helped my memory and writing is my passion.
  25. I have lots of different talents and believe I can achieve anything. My career goal is to be the Awesomest I can be.
